If P.F. Candle Co. had a scent that defined who they are as a brand, Amber & Moss would be it. Not their most popular (that is Teakwood & Tobacco), not their most distinctive (Golden Coast takes that), but the one that most clearly communicates what P.F. is about. Earthy, warm, outdoorsy, and real. It smells like a weekend in the mountains with the sun coming through the trees.
The note breakdown is moss and lavender on top, sage, orange, and lavandin in the middle, amber and musk at the base. What strikes you first is the green quality - the moss is prominent and genuine, not a faint suggestion hiding behind stronger notes. The lavender adds an herbal brightness. And the amber base wraps it all in a warm, golden glow that keeps the scent from feeling too raw or green.
It is a forest, but a friendly one. Dappled sunlight, not deep shadow.
The Incense - $11
This is the format where Amber & Moss really comes alive. The charcoal-based incense sticks add a layer of natural smoke that amplifies the earthy, mossy quality of the scent. Moss already has a damp, forest-floor character, and the smoke from the burning stick makes it more atmospheric and immersive. It is the difference between looking at a photo of the woods and actually standing in them.
Each pack includes 15 sticks, hand-dipped in Los Angeles, with about an hour of burn time per stick. The throw is strong - one stick fills a medium room within minutes. The sage and orange notes come through more clearly in the incense format than they do in some other P.F. products, which gives the scent a complexity that unfolds over the hour-long burn.
Light one on a weekend morning with the windows open. The combination of fresh air and Amber & Moss smoke is one of the best things going.
The Air Freshener - $12
Same scent, smallest footprint. A phthalate-free fragrance blend on recycled paper pulp. Hang it from your rearview mirror, tuck it in a closet, or clip it near a vent. It lasts two to four weeks and a gentle squeeze refreshes the scent when it starts to fade.
The air freshener version of Amber & Moss reads lighter and brighter than the incense. You get more of the lavender and orange top notes and less of the deep amber base. It works well in enclosed spaces where the incense would be too much - a car, a gym bag, a small closet. The moss still comes through, but it is gentler. More of a whisper than a statement.
At $12, it is also one of the easiest gifts in our shop. Toss it into a gift bag alongside a pack of incense and you have a complete scent experience for under $25.
Who Amber & Moss Is For
This scent appeals to the widest audience of any P.F. offering outside of Teakwood & Tobacco. It is earthy without being heavy. Warm without being spicy. Green without being sharp. It reads as natural and clean, which means it works in almost any context - home offices, bedrooms, living rooms, even kitchens.
If you are new to incense and not sure where to start, Amber & Moss is a smart first choice. It is recognizable enough to feel comfortable but interesting enough to feel like a step up from whatever you were burning before. The moss and sage give it character that generic "clean" or "fresh" products simply do not have.
It pairs well with other earthy scents if you are into layering. Burn the incense in the living room, hang the air freshener in the hallway, and you get a consistent warm-green presence through your home without the scents fighting each other.
